Battlestar Galactica - Visual Effects Model Maker - Eastern Alliance Battle Cruiser

Battlestar Galactica / Galactica 1980 Main Page.

Eastern Alliance Battle Cruiser, Visual Effects model, Battlestar Galactica, First season, 1979.Toward the end of the first season, The Battlestar encountered the Eastern Alliance. The model crew built a small model and were in the process of building a larger copy for a possible spin-off series involving the Eastern Alliance. When this story line was abandoned, the larger model was shelved.

I am shocked at the interest this model generates on my web site. Where were all the fans when the show was canceled? As I have provided the same answers to several people, I will attempt to dump everything I remember into this page.

My memory is foggy about what kits were used. Some parts were scratch built, so if you can't find something, make your own. The wings obviously came from our shooting model Thunder Fighter (Star Fighter) so you need to make a set twice the size of the kit once made by Monogram. The cylindrical neck was some part, but I can't remember. The front was a custom vacuform part by Pat McClung. If anyone has these kit parts, let me know and I will update this entry. The body was an F-15. For the larger model, we used the F-15 from Airport '79 and made extra large Thunder Fighter (Star Fighter) wings.
